If you are reading this, you must already know that Windows 10 is a privacy nightmare. It “phones home” and retrieves telemetry every so often and does so even after being disabled.
For a long time I have been find ways to harden privacy on Windows 10 but to no avail. There are software like O&O Shutup 10. However, the settings seem to revert itself or does so after an update.
If you are still using Windows 10, I would advise you to use this application and go through each setting in the privacy section of the Windows control panel and disable all options as tracking and “learning about you” option are all turned on by default. (Maybe I’ll write up a post about this soon)
Here are just some of the data that Windows 10 collects from you :
- Your payment and account history
- Your browsing history
- Your interests and favorites
- Your searches and commands
- Your voice and typing style/data
- Your contacts and relationship status
- Your social data
- Your location
- AND MUCH MORE!
I am sure someone who has the “I have nothing to hide” mindset might stumble across this post and roll their eyes but that’s all right. I still value my privacy.
More on which Linux distribution I’m currently using in my upcoming posts.
